Looking for vintage style tires.
I am reconstructing a 2nd model Export ST70 from a wheel-less frame. I'm in the US, so information about these bikes is hard to come by. The CT70s that we got were on/off road so they came with Nitto, IRC or Bridgestone knobby tires. It seems from what information I can find, that the ST70 would have come with more appropriate street tires. I ran across another guy who restored an ST70, but he was cagey about what tires he bought, just telling me he got them from Russia.

Could anyone share what the original maker/model street tire Honda used on ST70s? If they are no longer made, what is a good vintage style model I could use? Maybe with a couple leads, I can find some over here.

Thanks.

My 1976 has Metzler fitted.

It has been sat in a garage since 1977 so I would say they were OEM.

Hi
My 73 ST was still sitting on it,s original bridgestone tyres when purchased last summer, sadly the sidewalls were showing signs of cracking after 40 years and 2000 odd miles.................. so I had to change them, I guess the warranty would have expired by now!

Thanks. I'll look at what Metzler has. Do you happen to have a model name or number and size?

Also, on the Bridgestones, was there a model number or name on the sidewall? We got Trailwings over here. If I can't verify what the OEM tires were, I may just go with the Trailwings.

Thanks for the repies.

The tyre is marked "3.50-10 Block C Mit Schlauch tubetype" if that helps

I can post some pics

Also if you're desperate for original and can't find any mine will be coming off during the rebuild for new modern ones.

These may even by crossply, I can't tell!

Thanks for the offer, Tony. Postage to the USA would likely be prohibitive. You actually helped me a bunch. I was able to find that Metzeler catalogs a "Block C" vintage style tire in 4.00-10 (a bit wider) and there is a Metzeler dealer in town. I'll check that.

If that fails, in my searching for the Metzeler, I found that Pirelli makes a highly rated (and fairly inexpensive at $33US) classic tire that may work as well.

Thanks again,
