1974 ST70 Tensioner Check Valve
Hello Everyone!

I have just joined the forum & this is my First post.

I am restoring a 1974 ST 70 & I have a problem. My bike has the Auto chain tensioner the one with the one way check valve. the problem is that we stripped down the engine to get the cases vapour blasted & thought it would not be wise to leave the one way valve (that supplies oil to the cam chain tensioner) in the crank cases incase the glass beads got trapped inside & caused major problems later on.

In the process of removing the valve it got distroyed! looking at parts diagrams it seems Honda dont sell that part seperate & now I am unsure what to do... Any ideas?

Thanks

Welcome, be nice to see some pictures of the part in question and the bike?
I'm not totally sure what part you mean, have you checked the diagrams on here for the part number?

Hi Blue,

I Have checked with Cmsnl & I have an original parts book & the check valve (as the honda workshop manual calls it) isnt listed. the blasting i get done is a mixture of compressed Air water & Glass beads we call it Vapour blasting not sure what others call it http://www.tsrvapourblasting.co.uk

I will get a pic of the part tonight to let you see it

Thanks

Hi Russell,

I stand corrected, you are right :D

I know of TSR as they are just up the road from me, just out of curiosity how much are the charging you to do the cases?

Blue,

I dont use that Company to get my blasting done I just used their link for an example. I would guess the cost to be around £80 for all the aluminium parts of the ST70 engine.

I didnt get a chance to take pictures of the valve, but I think i have got it sorted on my engine the one way valve is pressed in to the cases & on later engines the one way valve is built into the bottom of the cam chain plunger. I have a C90 engine with the valve i the plunger, my plan is to cut the bottom of the c90 plunger & press that part into my cases. I will take a few pictures later to explain it all.

Cheers

Russell
