Chaly ignition and carb problems
Hi All,
I have very recently been given a lovely yellow Chaly. However it has a couple of problems, one is ignition, the second is a carb problem.

i) It has come to me with no ignition coil. Its a 6v model. It seems apparent that the coil is a single wire affair which is grounded to the body with the two threaded studs that come off the coil. On my bike the only place to mount a coil like this has a 35mm c-c requirement. All the aftermarket replacements seem to be approx. 50mm c-c on the two studs. Does anyone know where I can get a suitable coil? Or do i have to make up a mounting plate that will convert 35mm c-c to 50mm c-c?

ii) the mechanism for the choke butterfly was completely seized solid. Despite penetrating oil, a long time in my ultrasonic cleaner etc, it just wouldn't rotate freely. I decided to remove the butterfly from the shaft by unscrewing the Phillips headed screw on the activation shaft. This unscrewed maybe 1 1/2 turns then promptly snapped....argh! So the shaft is now free to move after some intensive cleaning, but i either need a new carb, or a plan to reattach a choke butterfly to the shaft. Any ideas as to suitable carb and or reattachment plan gratefully received :P I have thought of drilling tiny hole where Phillips screw has broken off and trying to find a tiny self-tapper. Doesn't sound v elegant, so i need some help please.

regards

Ian
