Hi everyone, new member here, although I've had my ST70 for 20 years now. When I bought it, it was in a psychedelic colours, which I have toned down to a navy blue. In the near future I would like to strip it to basics and repaint, powder etc. I would also like to put in a 90cc engine!!!!!!!!! Basically what are the problems I might come across, with the engine not the respray. Any advice gratefully received. All the best. Cravenite.

Hi cravenite,

Welcome :)

I've put a c90 engine into my St70 with no problems.
Make sure you buy the right engine as some of the early c90s don't fit.
Pay attention to the mounting brackets on the engine as this is what is incompatible.

The early c90 engines are 6v, I'd personally avoid theses as they can be harder to get parts for and there are less options if you decide to upgrade the engine.

If you are going to go for a later type engine then remember you will have to convert the electrics to 12v

Why not just keep the original engine?

Do you have any pictures of the psychedelic colour scheme?

Best,

Blue
