Ok people i'm new to this whole game. My dad left me a ST70 that needs some work but in quite good condition. The bike won't start at the moment but then not supprised been stood since 87!!!! I would love to do it up and get it going as it holds many very fond memories including getting burnt on the exhaust as a kid! but i would like to do it properly athough this will be on a budget! so i was wondering if there is a book on such things like a haynes manual or something for a blond bird to have a go! I suppose i'm looking for any help or advice or if anyone is near North Wiltshire that could help me out!
Please!!! x

Welcome and good luck!
You sound like you'll need it!

First of all, there lots of good literature around.
A lot of them can be foun don the internet.
Honda workshop manuals, part manuals,...
(take a look on www.hondaheaven.org)

First of all, take a look at the basics:
Is the spark plug providing a spark?
Is there fuel in the cilinder? (Is the carb clean, the spark plug wet?)
Is the fuel still OK. (Change it and clean the carburator)
Compression OK?
Ignition switched on?

Re: Help Needed!
Welcome to the site Zoe.

The guys on this forum are very helpful and with their help I managed to restore my 1975 Honda ST70 although it's off the road at the moment because of an engine problem I developed

If you have any queries or need any help, ask here on the forum and I'm sure everyone will be happy to help! :)

I don't know of anyone close to you, I live near Wallingford which is in South Oxfordshire so not a million miles away. When your bike is up and running we will nearly have enough members for a mini-meet!

How much money are you looking to spend to do your bike up? I spent well under £1k on my partial restoration and my bike went from this:

To this:

As you can see it was a bit of a wreck before I started the work and I'm sure you won't need to buy as many parts as myself.

Good luck and stick around :)

At first it can be quite daunting taking things apart but the bikes are actually quite simple! Feel free to ask at any point, a few of us usually visit the site a couple of times a day so can answer your questions quite quickly :)
