Could anyone tell me when the ST70 went from 6v to 12v my friend has a 1976 6v is the a K3 , The reason why I am asking is I have just fitted a new Std piston that had a one piece oil ring and I have noticed that you can buy a piston that has a 3 piece oil ring ?? but it is for a K3 1977

A 3 piece oil ring?
You have
- 1 or 2 compression rings (on top)
- 1 oil ring, pretty much always this layout: |S|

This piston has 3 rings 2 compression and 1 part solid this is top right (it has small gaps in between the oil ring ) I was told that this type of piston was fitted to the early bikes (6V) at one time

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
this one is what I would call a normal piston ring set

Those are both 6v pistons.
Yes, the oil scraper can exists out of 1 solid or 3 esperate parts.
Shouldn't be affecting performance, and is far as I know, not related to a certain model / manufacturing date. (they are both repro's anyway...)
