oil pump drive

I am going to make a start on the engine rebuild , So what I am going to do is replace the cam timing gears and Chain ,Now the one that drives the oil pump is this a left hand thread or right hand ?? . I know I will have to hold the shaft in a vice with rubber jaws so not to damage the shaft so looking down at the gear in the vice will I turn it left or right

Can't honestly remember......but, in use the normal rotation would cause it to tighten on its thread.
