Gents, does anyone know how many wires came from the stator on early ST70s please? I have a Cub engine fitted to mine with 5 wires but I wondered if the ST engines would have been the same? I also have. a much later Cub engine but that only has 4. Cheers.

Yep, 4 or 5 wires.
Depends on brand of ignition.
ST50, ST70 use a different ignition - and crank shaft.
