Hello Si
I don't know if my experience is relevant to your seat question but you and others may find this helpful.
I bought an aftermarket seat from Easyrider and have just been doing a trial fit. It was listed as being suitable for ST/Dax but no mention of different voltage as far as I can recall. It came fitted with two locating pins for left or right side opening - (easily removed) and the usual front hinge for rear opening, and it bolts straight on - but - there was no rear locking bracket fitted to it. I showed the old knackered seat pan to Tufty at the Saffron show and he quite rightly said to carefully drill out the spot welds that locate the bracket - job done - and fit it to the new seat
Tricky job is to line up the old seat locking bracket on to the underside of the new seat pan as the old bracket is bent to different angles where it needs to follow the profile of the bends in the new seat pan so a bit of careful fettling is needed to make it fit exactly in the right position so the seat locks down. Main difficulty is working almost blind with the seat down while marking up the holes in the bracket and seat pan accurately with the bracket held against the underside of the seat in the locked position. Maybe get two rear holes lined up and superglue the bracket on temporarily, then go from there. Patience and a third hand are essential tools for the job!
Hope this helps in some way as I'm sure others may have had similar problems. Pics available of what I've got if anyone needs them.

Have seen a few for sale on Fleabay and they say they will fit a 6v but the lock wont work, have avoided buying one of that type.

Cheers gents,

I think the only way forward would be to buy the seat, and have a go at modifing it

New two-tone seat from fleabay £29.99, recoverd seat about £100.00...................I'll give it a go and let you know ;) ;)

All the best Si

Ive got a 12v aftermarket seat on one of my 6v bikes.
I had to modify the bracket where the latch clips into, well weld a new piece of metal on.
It can be done with some determination :)

A little bit of black paint afterwards and your never know :)
