Handlebar Knobs- Thread Size?

Was wondering if any of you chaps know the thread size of the rubber headed handlebar knobs please? Both of mine have sheared off in place and will need to be drilled out. cheers Paul.

Hopefully can tell you tomorrow - certainly metric and probably 10mm but I'm guessing.

My stud extractors finally arrived......to work!

After dinner of course

Beaten by a M6 bolt

It broke my tap wrench, rounded off the top of the stud extractor and is still stuck in there fast.

Will have to drill it right out and use a Heli Coil or tap it and just stick in a M10 bolt and glue the rubber knobs on top.

I think you will find they are M8,(or at least my 1973 one's are) just measure the remaining section attached to the plastic Knob

Thanks Chief, will give that a go, think mine is a '70.

if you drill a 5.5mm hole centrally down the broken stud and then re-tap M8, with a bit of luck the tap will remove the remaining broken threads and you can replace with a STD plastic Knob, if not you can then resort to a Helicoil insert to
restore to M8.

AH! Didn't know there could be 2 sizes. Mines a 1972 frame no 139273 - definitely M6.
