IGNITION SWITCH

I'm missing the chrome bezel that screws on to the outside of the switch on my ST70 where it pokes through the hole in the near side frame.Theres 3 options I can pursue to try and get one so;
1 If anyone has a spare bezel they don't need I be willing to buy it
2 Does anyone know if a bezel from another Honda switch would fit?
3 Can anyone positively identify the thead pattern (probably metric fine)as I may be able to get one made from brass.

I'm sure most reading this will know that the bezel isn't listed as a seperate item and as Express Keys in Green St. Green were able to supply a brand new ignition key from a computer operated keycutter for less than a tenner I don't really want to buy a complete new switch.
Always a pleasure to have such excellent advice on this website!

Best bet for this is to by a pattern ignition they are going for about £15 on ebay , just use the one from that , come to think of it I may have an original ignition st70 I will have a look later and get back to you

The bezel would be the same as other Honda switches of that era, so you could try a bike breakers.
If you've got access to a thread pitch gauge and vernia caliper (nut and bolt stockist/engineers etc)thread could easily be identified, but finding a replacement is probably your best option.

Thanks folks for your replies.All make good sense but if there's a spare bezel available as suggested it would be the most convenient option.I'll check with my thread pitch gauge and try and work it out from there.
I'd be fairly sure Honda would have used a switch common to other models like a CB125 or similar so one of those could do if all else fails.
Thanks again - I'll watch the forum!

Thanks very much for the offer Ade but things have moved on since submitting the message.Hopwever I could still be interested but I've taken the bike into my local Honda guy who is a whizzo at getting a pile of bits to work.He has an encyclopeadic knowledge plus an emporium of C70/90 parts and if Plan A works and he may have spare bezel that would fit. It he hasn't Plan B would be to buy yours but as I've got a switch and key I don't really need another - yet!
He's having a go at getting my ST running next week just to get it MOT'able so I can get it registered with DVLA so I'll keep in touch when I've got some news - good or bad
Thanks again -I'll definitely let you know either way
Brian
