REAR WHEEL SPACER
When I removed the rear wheel on my ST70 recently I dropped the spacer (collar) that fits between the the hub and the left hand side swinging arm fork. It's completly vanished and I've torn the garage apart trying to find it apart from looking in the roof so Ive turned up an oversized new one on the lathe from a piece of steel tube and need to turn it down to the correct size.I'd rather get it right rather than guess it so perhaps someone could measure theirs and let me know
It's part number 42313 098 000 in the CSNL diagram.
Any advice welcome.Many thanks

Re: REAR WHEEL SPACER
Hi Brian,At any time in the last few years I could have measured it for you , but now (at last) its assembled and after checking its not really possible when in situ.
However, if no one answers your request over the weekend please ask again and I'll remove the wheel and give you the actual dimensions,

Re: REAR WHEEL SPACER
Hi Brian.
You are in luck. My 1972 Dax is in bits in the garage, so I have just measured both spacers from the back wheel spindle.
The one I believe is from the left hand side measures 26mm O.D and is 10.3mm wide.
The other spacer is 27mm O.D. and is 9mm wide.
You can easily check which one you need by measuring the other spacer that you already have (if you haven't lost that one by now!)
Hope this may be of some help.

Regards

Mr Rainbow.

Re: REAR WHEEL SPACER
I've now got the correct spacers from David Silver and as previously advised there's only 1mm difference in the width between the nearside and brake side spacer.I double checked which went where before I fitted them against the original Honda workshop manual and the mystery is I fitted the brake side one with no problem but there's no room at all to fit the near side one.All the wheel bearings, cush drive rubbers, sprocket and other bits are fitted exactly - and I mean exactly - as per the manual and the wheel spins freely when tightened up so can't understand why this spacer is needed.
It could be argued that the swinging arm could be distorted or damaged which would narrow the distance between the rear spindle lugs, which would be fairly obvious if it was.
Another little problem to be solved so any advise/tips/solutions would be very welcome.
After lunch snooze awaits - so must avadoze

Re: REAR WHEEL SPACER
Something odd here because the spacer at the chain side locates in an oil seal which is recessed in the hub, so without it your hub would definitely make contact with the swinging arm and would not rotate when the axle is torqued up.
I have just checked the parts list (CSNL) and the part No you quote for the chain side spacer is actually the brake side spacer
double check this yourself ?
