Clutch sticking -ST50
Hi,
The clutch on my ST50 seems to be sticking/stuck. It's not been used for some time and seems stuck to the point that the kickstart slips?
How can I free it off? I've tried backing it off on the adjusters, manual clutch, but to no avail.
Will getting it out and riding it help to free it up or will I need to split the engine?
Thanks.

How long has it been since it last run?
Changing the oil could help, as well as starting it up and let it run.
Also, clean cable and lubricate the mechanism under the cover. Check the spring on the clutch arm.
If it doesn't get free, you'll need to take off the cover and clean the discs.

Hi Waynus,
Thanks for your reply, I ran the bike last week for the first time in 4 years, no probs there it all started up ok.
When selecting a gear it appeared that the clutch was not engaging properly and when in gear the clutch was dragging, ie wheel turning on the stand but would stop if pushed down onto the floor.
The mechanism inside the small round casing is all well greased and moves as it should, it appears that the centre pin does not return properly, tried adjusting the clutch via the 10mm locking nut with flat screwdriver slot but made no difference.
My thought is that the clutch plates must be stuck together internally, causing the kickstart to slip and the gearbox to drag?
I will try changing the oil as I'm not sure if it has ever been done, certainly not since I've owned it and maybe never as its only done 4000 kms.
If this doesn't help I take it that I'll have to dig deeper.
Regards Dave.
