Very clean and well preserved! Nice!
Tires look really well on that bike, frame is looking like new.
Only missing some flywheel/chain covers, right?

Wow, really clean bike, makes me wish (again) I was home to work on mine. I really like that cool little filter too.

Hi Waynus
yes you are right about missing parts but these are in a box in the dining room due to trying to sort out electrical problems, thanks for the feedback today I am seriously looking at putting a short negative lead in parrallel with the existing if I can locate where it attaches to the frame any ideas before I remove the engine. And I am glad I bought a flywheel puller this has saved me a lot of grief and damage checking the individual magneto components, I have a feeling that I will end up stripping the loom and isolating each component, the odd thing about this is that if there is an earth fault in the ignition circuit taking it down the neutral light does not dim which I would have thought would happen and am I right in thinking that by grounding the ignition circuit you would not get a spark,
Thanks again Tufty
P.S the tyres were the ones you reccomended to James ( just goes to prove that people due read the posts) and were very easy to fit, it changes the whole look of the bike.We then enter the as original or useable debate should I have fitted Duro's and kept the original semi agricultural look ?????????????????

I will catch up with you on the earthing problem in this topic.
Earthing of the ignition coil: somply by the bolts that attach the coil to the frame.
All the other parts (for example horn) take their earthing trough a short wire that is attached to the fender, frame, engine bolt,...
The neutral switch light that doesn't fade: because this takes the mass trough the 'negative side' of the battery. Not trough the same circuit as the ignition does.

Re: Tufty's Honda ST70
I don't know whether it's worth mentioning or not but I have read a few posts over on the Mini Trail website that a grounding issue can be caused when you have just had your frame resprayed. The ignition needs to be grounded against the frame and sometimes when the paint is too thick or it has been powder coated (like mine) you have to scrape away paint so it earths on the bare metal.
The tyres look great Tufty, I have them too and they are mounted on my wheels (which are already assembled).

Hi James and Waynus
Thanks for your ideas looks like the engine needs to be dropped probably best not to do that in the dining room, as Mrs tufty might not be amused, I definitely need to check the earthing if only to rule that out.
thanks again guys.
