hello everyone, new to this forum, a couple of pics of my Dax clone I am trying to register without luck but if anyone has a frame with V5 they would sell let me know.
this has never been on the road, has only 74 miles on the clock and is near enough good as new, 110cc kit fitted.
if I can get this on the road or built onto another frame I will be customising it and using it for scooter rallies etc

You should eventually be able to get this road-registered even if you have no docs at all or a reg no. It's a lengthy process but can be done and if you want to get an age related reg. the best thing you can do is to contact the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club website and follow their advice. You'll need to submit 2 photos to them and clearly identify the frame no. in one of them- assuming yours has one - stamped on the left hand side just above the rear chainguard. They are not interested in the engine no.
FIRST GET IT MOT'D BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE.They are not interested in the engine number or size so long as at least 75% of the bike is original.
If all is well the VJMC will issue a dating certificate that you then submit to the DVLA with the photos and they will probably then ask "has VAT and Import Duty been paid on the machine"? Also if you have no invoice I would recommend including a covering letter explaining your ownership and the circumstances under which you acquired it.
They will refer you to HMRC who will ask the same questions where you have to declare the value so they can calculate how much import duty would be due - probably zero if its a 1970's machine (mine was) - and calculate VAT at 5% of the value. My pile of bits original cost £400 and I paid about £21 VAT.
Then back to the DVLA who can issue a 1970's age related number. I went through this process last year and while its a bit tedious its worth sticking with it.
Needless to say there's costs involved from the VJMC and DVLA but offset by the fact you pay no road tax.
Once you've got the reg no and VRD you can modify it how you like!
Hope this helps in some way which I suspect is cheaper than rebuilding in into another ST frame.

its a Chinese clone dax though, date on vin plate is 2004.
it was imported by templemoto dax motorcycles but unfortunately they have gone out of business so I cant get hold of them to get paperwork.
so if anyone has a frame for either a genuine Honda st50 / 70 or a clone frame with a registration number I could buy?
