Cousin of ST70....... SL70...
Just joined this forum as it seems to have people content with the real Honda stuff, not automatically assuming that we should all want to fit Chinese 125 engines... :)

I've had ST50s and 70s in the distant past and now seeking another project to add to the other bikes that I have restored.

This is my SL70. I know it's not an ST or a CF, and I know it has those straw-like things to attach the rims to the hubs, but it does share the engine more or less with the American CT70 four speed.....

Just fit a Lifan 125cc and leave us alone!
:D
Very nice bike, you did a great restoration job!!!
(shouldn't the spark plug wire run inside the frame?)
And the engines on that bikes are really sweet...
Too bad they are fitted with the non-advancing flat Hitachi Magneto? Or am I wrong?

Fair point about the plug lead, but I can't think if I moved it or not! That picture was taken just after I'd carried out some work on the top end just before the Stafford Show in April. I had the barrel shot blasted and powder coated as close to the original silver as I could. I also had the head Aqua blasted.

The magneto is fitted with spring loaded Bob-weights that advance the ignition. Not sure who the manufacturer is without looking again. It does go well, but a comfortable top cruising speed is about 40mph. Not as fast as my SS50 with a similarly fitted 70 top end back in 1979, but as was pointed out to me by a kind friend, I was 5 Stone lighter then!

Very nice restoration.
I have SL100 and 125's and was just wondering what size diameter wheels are fitted to the 70?

Ahh - Mr Dax-It........!

Yes, see you in Aldi.

My wife complains that after our six-monthly catch ups in Aldi, the frozen food, er, isn't!
