It's 99% complete after nearly 3 years of intermittent fettling and fiddling in between chemo and radiotherapy sessions so I thought I'd prove I'm still around with a pic of the new chainguard I've made.
I cobbled it together from a piece of scrap aluminium sheet as the original ST70 guard wouldn't fit properly over the rear end of the Lifan 125 gearbox casing. Using a profile gauge I pencilled in the outline of the curves onto a cardboard template which I then drew onto the aluminium and cut it out on my bandsaw. Drilling the holes in the right place for the lower securing bolts was tricky so I ground down the heads of a couple of 6mm x 30mm bolts to a sharp point and screwed the other ends tightly into the holes in the gearbox casing. Offering up the chainguard (before it was sprayed) I gave the aluminium a sharp whack to make a couple of indentations on the inside surface which gave a nice clear indication where to drill the 6mm holes in exactly the right place. Adrian at 00Racing popped a couple of matching hex chrome bolts on the mail and hey presto - job done.
All I have to do now is try and get fit enough to ride the thing after the next bout of chemo and radiotherapy treatment which starts Thursday.
Hope you all have a good riding season and stay upright!
