MY HONDA ST 70 RE BUILD 2013
hi guys i am new to the site i purchased my little Honda st 70 in the late summer of 2012. when i purchased it the bike a 1973 model it had been standing in a barn for the last 20 years. the bike had only covered 3600 miles from new but was in a bit of a state. it was complete minus the front & rear fenders & rear tail light & mounting bracket. i did not do anything with the bike until march this year when it was totally stripped. some new genuine parts & a mixture of after market parts where fitted bodywork was powder coated a few items re chromed seat cover was a mess so new seat cover i new rivet's fitted. when i purchased the bike there was no paperwork or reg no with the bike so i had to get it registered on an age related plate which was a bit of a nightmare but worth it in the end anyway here's some photo's of the bike before & after the re build

Hello Bernard the bin man, and welcome to the club ;)

You don't mention where you're from?

You've done a really nice job on that bike, another one on the road :D :D

The only thing I would change would be the exhaust pipe, apart from that, well done :D

All the best Si

i am from wordsley nr stourbridge in the west midlands . yes your right about the exhaust at the moment i don't know what i will be doing with the bike i did originally intend to sell it on but it was so much fun doing it +it turned out better than i expected i will probably keep it. as you know the original exhaust + exhaust heat shields are not cheap even good condition s/h ones fetch as much as a new genuine + would cost as much as i paid for the bike

Am I to assume that the old exhaust was to far gone? :?

yes mate front part of the down pipe was almost rotted through. i think if i decide to part with it i will probably purchase a genuine part which will make it more desirable

Hi
Smart paintwork (take note Shorrocks) I agree about the exhaust there are some nice after market ones. I am glad to see another one back on the road.

Nice bike, well done :D
As for the exhuast keep your eyes on Fleebay, I picked up a brand new original exhaust, with all 3 heat shields, screws and fittings for £70 quid. It was all still in a David Silver box :D
Actually it's still in the box, but that's another story,,,,,

What tail-lamp bracket is that, the original chromed or a replacement?
