Sold the ST50 Dax to Simon Taylor off this forum last weekend (i've still got the ST70) and I am hoping he will post the details of his journey from my place in Bedford back to Brighton for everyone to read as it sounds like quite an adventure (anyone who even THINKS about riding a 30MPH Dax for even part of that journey must expect to have a bit of fun on the way). As it turns out he didn't ride it all of the way but even so, worth hearing the story.

Hi Litch
Does your dad know you've sold his bike ?
Having been out the other day on the dax for a few miles I had forgotten how cold riding in the winter can be talk about freezing the testicles off of a non-ferous anthropod but the bike went brilliantly I look forward to reading the adventures of your buyer and before I forget a happy and prosperous new year.

Yes, he knew and although he was really upset that it had to go he knew he wouldn't be able to ride it again.

Belated seasons greetings to everyone.

Sure understand what you're talking about concerning the freezing body parts.
Did a trip of 260km (+-160miles) last November on my little Lady Dax.
On days like that, a stop for a hot choco and most important, the 15 minutes on a comfortable chair, never felt so good before.

Aaaaah crazy adventures keep us from getting too old and serious!

Hello everyone,
I'm Simon, the guy who bought Litch's Dad's ST50
I'm finally a fully fledged member of the dax community!
When I collected the bike it was a rather chilly day so I thought I would try and cheat my way out of the 6 or 7 hour ride back to Brighton
I rode the bike to Bedford station and managed to sweet-talk the guard into letting me through the barrier by explaining that I had been given permission to bring the bike back to Brighton on the train when I bought the ticket, he believed me and let me through!
I got a few funny looks on the train, especially in Central London when it got a bit busy.
I got off at Three Bridges, where I got a telling off from the inspector who told me that it was forbidden to take motorcycles on the train (but there was not much he could do as it was the end of the line!)
I then rode in the dark through the freezing non-lit countryside lanes from Horley to Brighton which was an experience (couldn't feel my hands or feet when I got there!)
It took me about 5 hours to get home!
The bike rides like a dream, I'm really chuffed with her. She flew through the MOT last week (the guy at the MOT station even gave me a helmet for free as he was laughing at the state and age of mine!)
I've already had so many comments and waves from people when I've been scooting around Brighton.
I can't wait to treat her to a service and a big bore kit and get out of the gutter.
If anyone has any tips on big bore kits I'd appreciate the help.
I was thinking of going with the OORacing one (has anyone have any experience with these?)
Big thanks to Litch for the bike, a proper gent and full of helpful info.
Hopefully chat to some of you on here and maybe meet up in the future.

Hi
Glad to see you got home safely.
I really rate OORacing they have been extremely helpful and they checked my rebuilt Lady Dax over before MOT ing her I have seen quite a bit of the work they do and it is excellent they also do a mean cup of coffee and certainly know there stuff, ask for Adrian who will certainly give you good solid advice
Regards Tufty

If you want to fit in a 52mm kit (88cc) I recommend to swap your 100% old pump for a higher volume one.
Anything between 180% and 300% will do the trick. Make sure you get the 6v version.

As for the bore kit, it depends on the money you're looking to spent.
If you are going to keep your current head, I'd get a 51mm cilinder and piston for OT50 head.
52mm could be just too big to fit properly in your cases. (You will be able to fit it without enlarging the cases, but in some cases there just isn't enough free space to let the cilinder expand properly when warmed up)
