STAFFORD CLASSIC MECHANICS SHOW
Hi Everyone,

I entered my 1972 ST70 at this show as a Private Entry at the weekend.
Coming back to check on the bike at one point, I found a note had been left on a scrap of paper which read

" FOR YOUR INFO IT'S NOT AN ST70 BUT A CT70 (IT'S STILL V. NICE)"
There was no name or contact details left.

The purpose of this posting is that there maybe a chance that this person could be a member of this Forum and will read this.
The frame number and the engine number on this bike of mine are clearly stamped ST70 as per the details recorded on the Registration document
This is the first time that an "expert" has told me otherwise.
Anyhow to end the bike took the award for the Best Sub 100 CC bike in the Show! Obviously the judges were impressed.

P.S. Can someone point out the differences between an ST70 and a CT70

Re: STAFFORD CLASSIC MECHANICS SHOW
Hi Ken,
I am no expert, but just find yourself an internet image of a CT70. The immediate difference seems to be the two engine 'support' bars on the forward part of the engine. I am not sure what function they perform, other than some sort of protection. If these have been removed and various European trim added, then from a distance it could be an ST. Surely the vin plate on the headstock would be the clincher. Mine clearly begins ST70. Ask Waynus, he seems well informed.
Regards,
Pete.

Re: STAFFORD CLASSIC MECHANICS SHOW
Hi Ken, I agree with Pete, with a bike of thirty or forty odd years old some of the parts may have been changed or swapped but with the frame being the major part of the whole bike then if the frame number starts with ST***** then I would have thought that the bike is an ST,
Kind Regards

I was always led to believe that the ST had painted silver mudguards similar to those on the CF70 Chaly model, whereas the CT model had flatter-sided chrome guards, the front one of which was raised up rather than being fastened to the fork tubes.

Thanks Guys for all the information and comments.
Maybe the fact that my ST70 had the spark plug guard on which includes the support bars from the engine to the frame, makes people think that it is not an ST70 ,which of course it is as it is clearly stamped ST70 on the frame.
The spark plug guard is an accessory, just like a luggage rack, so can be fitted on most Daxs models as far as I can see--depends on your personal choice.
One final question---Is the CT70 model frame and engine stamped CT70?
