Hi all

Bought an old st70 in a right state and have no v5 as you can imagine its been left for sometime so missing reg plate and has a c70 motor I have a dating cert from Honda march 72 and its vin is fine how can I find the reg number to save the ball ache of going through a vosa inspection and the costs involved with that as by that time I would have it built and restored.

You probably won't need a VOSA inspection as you've got dating details from Honda. You can get an age related reg.no - should be a K OR L suffix- from DVLA but you'll have to pay £55 for the re-registering process.Take some pics of both sides of the assembled bike clearly
showing the frame no. on lefthand side just above the chainguard ,AND VIN no, plus a seperate one showing the C70 engine no.
Then get it running and MOT it.as you'll need an MOT cert to send to the DVLA with the photos so send the original but take a copy.
You need to be patient but I found the DVLA to be helpful if you ask the right questions and explain exactly what you've got.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info Brian but if its a re-register job ill just get shot of it before going through the hassle of rebuilding it as it was going to be a custom build not to oem spec.
The bike was probably road registered but no way of finding the reg number so it'll just go ebay.
I lived very close to a dvla centre until they closed it and found them to be bottom feeding mouth breathers that lived to drip feed info a little at a time to waste as much of peoples time as possible..... seen many an angry customer leave the place.

Regards

If you know a car or bike dealer they can do an hpi check on the vin number and tell you the reg.
