Hello from brisbane
Hi,
dan from brisbane, good to see a ST70 forum.

Have a couple of bikes being restored, below a blue ct70, 1974 model, had it since new.
It was in bad shape, being used on a farm for 30 years.

Also a orange CT1973 model being customised.

Also have a red ST70, no pics it's currently being sprayed. Will post some pics when the chassis is back on it's wheels.

cheers
dan

Look fwd

Hi Dan, the shine on the blue frame looks deep enough to swim in!
Keep up the good work, any before photos?
Regards Phil.

Thanks Guys,
I jumped the gun and started to dismantel the blue bike before I took some photos.
I only have this one.
But, basically rusted out rims , had to hacksaw off the tyres, seat pan broken in half (the one shown is a spare), etc etc.
Lots of rust and all the chrome was a right off.
Picked up a lot of parts from beatrice cycles (http://www.dratv.com/)in Obama land. Had a look at the CMSL site but the euro is a killer for us.
Thanks Phil, the paint job is a ripper( 2 pac with lots of clear coat), paid a bundle, but it's my first bike, so I thought it might be in the family for another 35 years, hand down to the next generation, so that numbed the pain a little.

Looking good. I didn't realise ST70s were so popular in Oz. Were they marketed as STs or CTs?

Yes both were imported,
from my research they started with the 69 model low guard ST's, these were manily for road use and were not popular. Then the Ct's came along with knobby tyres, off road footpegs and engine guards etc, and these could also be road registered same as the ST,,, they really took off as a kids bike.
Quite a few white (lady) ST's around the place, but mostly Ct's are what you see on the road and on evilbay and the bike sales sites.
