I've put a Lifan 125cc in a ST70 Special I built. It's a 4 speed manual clutch motor so you'll also need handlebar mounted clutch lever and new switchgear, starter button etc., and a new loom.
00Racing supplies them and It bolts straight in but you have to make some modifications.
The 12v battery doesn't fit a 6v battery carrier unless you can find a small enough one that does so the battery just sits under the seat.
00Racing can supply you with all the bits you need such as rectifier etc., which all gets stuffed under the tank - bit of a tight squeeze. Make sure you gate everything properly earthed to the frame.
The other thing you need to watch for is that the petrol tap and Lifan carb petrol feed sit a bit higher on the carb inlet stub than the original so you tend not to get such a good gravity feed of fuel from the tank. On mine the petrol tap has been lowered with a small bracket to compensate for this.
You'll also have to make a chain guard as the original ST guard won't fit properly in the existing threaded lugs on the frame.
Have a look in the gallery and you'll see it on my red ST125.
Hope this helps. I can send you some close ups if you let me have your email address.
00Racing are excellent and have a wealth of knowledge about ST's and are really helpful
