Hi Guys,
HELP WANTED -
I'm new to the Club and I've just bought a 1975 Blue ST70 in need or renovation, so before I start looking for bits and/or considering paint and chrome work, I thought I might ask for some help of those more experienced in matters of ST70's

1) First of all - Paint colours? Anyone have the name of the colours and/or paint codes for the Blue and Silver of this model?
2) Seat pan is broken and needs reupholstering - is it better to buy a replacement? if so any recommendations as to where from?
2) Chrome work - again is it any better to buy replacement parts eg kickstart, gearlever, headlamp rim, exhaust etc., or if new parts are available? is it more economical to buy these? if so where from? or would you recommend having the old parts re-chromed (could be costly)?
3) There are no indicators on this 1975 bike, I presume there should be? Where is the best place to buy them from?
4) Decals and tranfers etc., - again any ideas where to get these from?
5) Anyone got a wiring diagram they could email to me?
6) Any recommendations regarding the painting of the tinware?
Will be collecting this bike this afternoon and considering a plan of action, so any help would be much appreciated, regarding suitable suppliers etc, I am in the North Merseyside/West Lancashire area, so would obviously prefer to deal with people locally if possible.

Looking forward to hearing from you, many thanks, Michael

Re: ST70 Renovation
Hi and welcome
I will attempt to answer your questions as sensibly as possible and the views I express are my own and do not reflect the quite knowledgeable and well informed views of others
1) There is a list of colours and codes on the forum
2) If its beyond repair you will probably have to pay a lot of money on UK products or source from the Far East
2) If new parts are available go this root or I have just sent of some of my latest resto parts to a company called RS Chrome in Manchester who will provide quotes on individual parts
3) you will probably find they were not required at the time and so will not be required now for MOT
4) Avoid some of the Far East stuff there are some good companies in the UK but the aluminium side plates are quite expensive but look at some of the latest postings for a supplier in France
5) This is on the forum
6) If you are referring to brackets and bits and bobs which are nickel plated I have personally had them powder coated black as nickel plating can be expensive
P.S all this depends on how far you want to go with the resto and if you are looking for a show pony or rider
I would like to think that you would avoid the garish Essex Basildon Boy tango and fly paint job and go for the subtle purple with a hint of sparkle which is more acceptable in the leafier part of North Essex
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the world of bloodied fingers where large bank accounts are never quite enough to fulfil your desires to build the perfect Minibike.
Hopefully other members will help with suggestions and provide a list of suppliers and look in the picture gallery this may help
Regards Tufty
