Nice of you guys to ask - thanks
Fortunately Silver Lane is at the top of the hill and wasn't flooded but the road - Glebe Way A232 from the Croydon Rd/Glebe Way roundabout up to Silver Lane was closed for two days to prevent any damage to fire brigade pipes that were laid across the road. After exceptionally heavy rain the Bourne stream/river flows down from Hayes Common and Keston and has nowhere to go so the resulting groundwater overfills to above street level and it was being pumped it out through pipes along Croydon Rd into Sparrows Den playing fields - probably now on uTube
It's deep enough to row a boat on it and completely covers the rugby pitch - anyone for underwater rugby?
The one and only time Silver Lane has ever been on the national news!
Cheers
Brian
