Hi All
Im new here, i am hoping to purchase a st70 project and found you via the web. As i am green to the problems with these great bikes i thought i would ask the experts.

The bike i am told is a st70 1973, if its a uk bike on this age what colur did Honda do in this country ? I remeber blue, red and the white lady Dax. Were there any others?

Are correct seats still available for these ?

And lastly are there any places on the frame that are common to corrode badle ? , any areas i should pay particular attention to look for the rust bug or bodging resuting from rust.

I have wanted one of these since i were a nipper and i now hope realise the ambition of ownership but the bike concerned although in my low budget will not be a prime example so i need some sort of heads up. The mechanical doesnt bother me but seats and rust does, or at least rust that could become structeral.

Thanks in advance and expect to hear a fair bit from me if the bike ticks my boxes and i get it.

Hi welcome to the forum , yes you are correct with the colours or tho gold was also available in other countries , parts are very accessible from ebay , shire bikes , John oldfield honda or csnml . The frames are almost as good as they come off the shop floor but there are some really bad examples out there , the worst bit for rust is the seat for some reason but you can still get them at a price . Go onto shire bikes website and have a look all their bike parts are in section so very easy to price and look up parts , there is another forum called gotwarrior which has a dax section , just go on there and say hi most are very friendly and helpfull,
Good luck ade

I need some critical help here. Can you peeps please look at my images and tell me whats not original on this bike. Its a uk 1989 ST50-j, the frame has been aerosoled but on google images i cant find any other bikes that has the "50" logos in the same place, and the decal below"three speed, and possibly semi auto". And lastly the main Dax decals, i havent seen theses on such a late bike, only the mainly silver ones.

I need to know as at some time i will respray it back to the original colur red (whatever that would be ?) and want to fit the correct decals.

Also should a chassis plate be fitted and where should it be positioned ? The frame number and engine numbers are correct and not messed with.

Am i right all the decals have been replaced or are they actually correct ? Remember Uk bike.

It's the Honda ST50 type AB23 if you ask me. So only the the 50 is OK but in the wrong place... (eh oui)
The seat should be the ST type
The decals that year were the
The stickers you have on the bike are the ones end 1978 I think.....

ps: If you don't want the grab-bar.... I would gladly buy it from you ;-)
