I own a very low mileage 1984 Chaly CF50A (bought new in Cyprus) which has been off road/garaged since 1992. I now want restore it to roadworthy condition but am stymied as a consequence of having either lost or misplaced the keys. Is it possible to source replacement keys without the hassle of having to change the ignition barrel or calling out a locksmith. I asked Honda UK for help, advising that I had the chassis and engine numbers but all they did was refer me to the local Honda dealer- so much for customer care/service! I've read somewhere that the key codes are detailed (sometimes) in the Owner's Manual. My version of the latter is in Chinese or Japanese so I cannot verify same. On the premise that I may have to replace the ignition barrel, is there a DIY method of removing the old barrel from its mounting? At first glance the task would seem to require a special technique and/or tool. I would appreciate any advice or responses from Club members on this post.
