Well I wouldn't drill holes in my exhaust.at the price the originals are! Anyhow there's so so many aftermarket ones that can give u a sporty sound as well as look so it's nor really worth it to drill. Just get a yoshi copy zorst that should do!

Have you noticed what the main difference is between the FS1E, AP50 & ST70? :?:

I ran an SS50 back in those days while everyone else was on the Yam's & Suzie's and I had the edge on them every time.
The trick was to fit a 72CC conversion (grind the 72cc off the barrel so no-one noticed) so while they were thrashing around flat on the tank top sounding like a swarm of bee's in a tin can I could edge past with ease. Along with the bigger bore, a big carb and uprated gearing made it a much better bike. :D

In standard form it was a bit of a plodder but very reliable, I did 14K miles on mine between my 16th-17th birthdays and it rarely failed due to mechanical problems (punctures were the thing that gave me the most grief). Most of the 2-stroke boys rarely went out of the village whereas I went all over including down to the coast and similar long(ish) trips.

Bloodly hell 14k in a year !!!! wow,ya your right we never went more than 20 mile round trips, mainly showing off in front of the lasses in the village.. But what i really remember most was when on my birthday at just 17 i went out and bought a second hand yamaha rd250e (on hp) WHAT A BUZZ !!!!!!!! from a ped to a real bike that would do 100mph + with no prior training AT ALL i have to say it scared the pants off me for the first HOUR or so :o been able to do wheelies and actually overtake anything on the road felt just amazing......... :D this was an era that will never return, the young of today will NEVER experience what we did............. :?

ps What about the bike test back then

I did my silver "Star Rider" training when I was 16 and then did my moped test which meant I was the only person in the village who could (leagally) carry a passenger.
When it came to taking my bike test at 17 I was one of the first people in the country to do the new 2-part test. The first bit (around the cones) was done at a DOT site and I was the only person to be tested that day, as soon as I had that under my belt I could apply for the second part which was carried out on the road as normal. I bought myself a nice shiny new CB250RS-D for my 17th birthday and managed to cover 30K miles in the next 17-months before I sold it for a new Honda CBX550.

I was never into 2-strokes, even riding bikes on the track before I was 16 they were always Honda 4-strokes so when I was old enough to ride bikes on the road it was natural to stick with them. Plus Honda were always a 4-stroke manufacturer whereas the other big-3 were more into 2-strokes.

Well the first legit legal bike I had was a yam tzr 125 ( the previous ones were pulled out of the local marl hole yes daxes too dried out n thrashed round the fields) Had to work shifts to pay for the yam I was 19! I did some miles on that and never had it rebored had an allspeed exhaust! still love the smell of 2 stroke! Sadly now being lost to history. Love my daxes though my first encounters with them were not legit! It was the 70s n I didn't think they were nicked jus dumped or unwanted Oh well naivity of childhood.
