Importing CT70 Parts From The States
Does anyone know whether it is possible to import CT70 parts from the states and build up a bike from there here? There seems to be a lack of frames, engines etc here but a wealth of parts stateside. Would you be able to register an import with the DVLA on an age related plate? cheers Paul.

Thanks for the pressure, Lee :D

I don't know the import regulations in the U.K.
I asume with a title and a bill of sales you should be fine after passing the DVLA.

As for the other parts, keep in mind that you have to pay the:
- part in US dollar (+ conversion rates + Paypal interests if applicable)
- shipment (expensive, mainly depending on weight, some Americans charge for packaging materials as well)
- import tax (+-20% of the parts cost + the shipment cost!)
- sometimes the fixed tax import (customs) when they opened the box for checking the contents

Good advise:
Most Americans are... lazy sellers / shippers. Bad packaging, lack of communication,...
Use Paypal, for safety. They made the seller pay back the money to me several times before.
Be patient, especially with declaration times.
Check the shipment costs yourself, don't let the seller quote it for you.

All in all, it's only worth the trouble if it's a very rare or very wel priced, small, light-weight part; sold by a trustworthy guy.

Was thinking I could get parts shipped to my brother in laws place in New Jersey and get him to store them in his garage. Then enquire about having a small container shipped over to the UK, in a similar way that people do with old american cars.
