We have been down this route before on earlier threads.

The original ones come up on Ebay from time to time (I have seen three in the past year or so) but they have always needed re-chroming.
I agree with you about the Chinese ones as I had one of these on the ST50 and their shape makes them very impractical for all but the smallest on items. As you are probably aware (can't remember if you saw it or not Tufty) I bought one of those from CMSNL, slightly larger than the Chinese ones and much more practical to use although still not as large as the original one.

I got to say it - although (if I think correctly??) the ones I've seen on ebay that were supposedly originals, look more like the ones fitted to the Honda C50, 70 & 90 step thru's and I much prefer the one from CMSNL. I think that something that is an extra on a motorbike/car or whatever has to be functional but also match/enhance/not look out of place on the item that its fitted to!!

In the case of the of those large racks (original Honda ones) fitted to the step thru's, (and fitted to some DAX) although functionally they are good because they do allow you to carry things more sizeable, they are way too big and do nothing to enhance the look of the DAX.

I opted for the one from CMSNL and I think that one is just right!!

I also have one of the type from CMSNL and I like it very much (the chrome plating left a little to be desired in parts but it is ok) but I don't recall seeing a rack like that fitted to ST70's in the 1970's, all the ones I saw (including ours) had the larger (and more useful) rack which was made of flat steel & round bar whereas the new one is all tube.

Hi Guys
Litch was right again the original rack was flat steel and a tubing grille like part weled on top of that, there was one on the back of a dax on Ebay recently. A note about checking around for prices, I recently bought a rear grab handle from OORACING for £14.99 whereas on Ebay they are 3 times that, it is a good way of stopping the seat pan from getting split when pulling the bike up onto its stand.
When are we going to see more pic's of the machines out there as Christmas is fast approaching and it will be time to stay in the warm and not the shed.

In a dax frame there are 2 holes on the right side under te seat.
All versions have a hand grip mounted here, to pull the Dax on its stand.
Except... The UK version, for some reason.
You can easily buy and mount one.
