For years I have been chasing an ignition breakdown on my bike, In the end the only thing it could be was a failing stator, despite sending it to be rewound the fault of the bike losing a spark once hot & then once cooled down running again still persisted.
I have in the past tried to track down a CDi conversion kit in an attempt to take the existing stator out of the equation as finding a new original one seems impossible , and I have been unsuccessful in finding a pattern stator that fits correctly.
Thankfully I stumbled across a CDi Conversion kit from a company in Malaysia OHTOKC Bikes Parts Station (*****) I found them via ebay which is where I placed an order. The kit cost me £93 and was delivered with a tracking number promptly within days of confirming the fitment. The conversion kit was wired to match my wiring loom and flywheel, in my case an Hitachi fly wheel, I provided pictures of my flywheel and the wiring loom block connector at the request of the seller to ensure fitment was correct.
The fitment of the kit was a case of removing the existing stator and installing the new one, I did have to swap the oil seals from the old stator to the new one otherwise there was nothing else I was required to do, the CDi unit itself was easy to house within the body work behind the fuel tank. The bike is still running 6v lighting although it is easy enough to move to 12v lighting if I wanted to.
Since fitting the kit, my bike is back on the road and is running without issue. If you are wanting to reduce maintenance or are having a similar issue I cannot recommend this kit enough, great value for money and a very good service on top. As my bike is otherwise standard it would have been nice to keep the ignition system original specification but I would rather have a bike I could ride and use than one sat in the garage waiting for a part to appear that is hen teeth rare to find new.
