LOCK-DOWN PROJECT
I have purchased a second ST 70 Project to keep me going through this lock-down period (and perhaps a little longer).
Frame & wheels are very good, but many other parts are missing /incorrect.
Any help with the following or any advice would be gratefully received.

PARTS NEEDED FOR 1976 ST 70 DAX

ST 70 Engine or parts thereof.
Rear number plate/light bracket.
Front & rear steel mudguards--NOT CHROME if possible.

Has anyone had experience of Japan/ Thailand made replica parts/mudguards?
It does state on the advert that "slight adjustments may have to be made" Hmm--how slight is slight?

This is my 2nd ST 70 rebuild, so I am familiar with UK Suppliers (Shire Bikes, Dave Silver etc.)
I would prefer to use these suppliers, but they don't have some of the parts I want.

Your thoughts/experience would be most welcome.

Thanks in anticipation,

Ken

Re: LOCK-DOWN PROJECT
ANY BODY OUT THERE?
ALL EFFORTS TO LOCATE A CORRECT HONDA 70 CC ENGINE HAVE DRAWN A BLANK.
I KNOW IT IS NOT KOSHER AND IT IS NOT REALLY WHAT I WANTED TO DO,BUT I HAVE ACQUIRED A LIFAN 125 CC 4 SPEED CDI ENGINE UNIT.
IT FITS IN THE BIKE OK, BUT THE ENGINE IS 12 VOLT AND MY DAX IS 6 VOLT.
HAS ANYBODY ANY EXPERIENCE ON FITTING THIS TYPE OF ENGINE TO A DAX?
I WOULD BE MOST GRATEFUL TO HEAR FROM YOU.
A SOURCE OF A WIRING DIAGRAM WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL, AS AT THE MOMENT I HAVE 6 WIRES EXITING THE ENGINE WITH NO IDEA WHAT DOES WHAT.
SOMEONE MUST HAVE SOME INFORMATION ON THIS TYPE OF CONVERSION.
I COULD END UP WITH A RESTORED BIKE AND NO ENGINE, OR I COULD FIT THE CHINESE ENGINE AND GET THE BIKE ON THE ROAD, UNTIL THE CORRECT ENGINE COMES ALONG (IF EVER)

i LIVE IN HOPES.

Re: LOCK-DOWN PROJECT
Hello---Is there anybody out there?
Have got the engine into the bike with no problems,
However the engine is 12 volt 6 wires CDI and bike is a 6 volt Dax with a very tatty wiring harness, which I intend to replace.
Question---should I convert to 12 volt on the bike or look for a 12 volt---- 6 volt conversion, in case the correct engine becomes available.
I have looked on the Internet, and the only conversions I have seen are in the USA (unless you know different).
Does anyone have experience of these products as I would much rather deal with a UK supplier,as postage costs from outside UK are very expensive.
I see there is a basic loom to run just the engine, but I would like the bike to be road legal if possible.
Surely I am not the first person on this Forum to have done this.
Any input/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Ken
