V5C required

Hello,

I have recently bought a Honda ST50 to overhaul, The bike came without a V5 and has no number plate.

I would like to get a V5 for the bike but dont know how to do it without a registration number.

The frame number is clearly visible and from a bit of research I believe it to be a 1969 model.

I have had a friend who works at a car auction do a HPI check using the frame number to try to find out the registration number but it came back with nothing, could it be that the bike has never been road registered and if this is the case how do I go about getting a V5?

Thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew, I know a little bit about this but not everything but it is something like, if the registration number is lost then the DVLA can issue a age related registration number with a V5.
You will need to provide the proof of year, this can be done by the frame number, a Honda Owners Club may be of help here and they will probably want you to join their club for this and they will probably ask for pictures of the bike including a picture of the frame number and they may give you a written confirmation of the proof of year.
I think you will also have to get the bike MOTd using the frame number to prove it is an actual real bike and not a box of bits and then contact DVLA for an age related number plate, sorry it's a bit patchy but that's roughly what you will need to do

I have just registered an imported CT70 with the DVLA and now have an age related reg number for it. I made a slight error in the process, in that I firstly insured the bike before getting a MOT done on it. I found out after that when insuring a bike on just the frame number, you only get 30 days to complete the whole registration process. If there is a next time, I will MOT it first then insure it. I luckily made it with one days grace. Mine needed parts that had to come from abroad, so I was up against it time wise.
