ST INSURANCE HASSLE
Carole Nash, arguably the best known bike insurer for just about every category of two machine going, and who also offer 6 wheel polices have flatly refused to renew my combined car & bike policy to include my modified ST70 with the 125 engine. Their comment was roughly speaking "in view of the extensive modifications made to this machine we cannot offer insurance cover of any description" and refused to quote even with a 6 wheel policy. I find this absolutely ridiculous as any replacement parts are all available off the shelf from various suppliers (00Racing included) and Honda which reduces the risk and cost as far as the insurers are concerned in a situation whereby they'd have to source out one off specially made parts in case of a substantial accident claim for some obscure classic machine.

In spite of me being up-front with honest answers to all the questions like "has it been modified from the original manufacturers spec? etc., their supervisor wouldn't even listen to the sensible argument that its been made potentially safer to use with better braking, more powerful engine than standard to cope with modern traffic etc.,

Apart from Bennetts and Footman James (who I haven't tried yet) can anyone suggest another more cooperative insurer or has had similar experiences with insuring what Is now a HONDA ST125 although classified in their lists as a HONDA ST70
Well and truly gobsmacked by a specialist bike insurer who claims in their logo "offering the care it deserves".Rubbish as far as m concerned

Brian,
I know exactly how you feel, being honest now-a-days dose'nt count for much. I declared "Most" of my mods and they still demanded that my compulsary excess was £950 :o :o

In other words they don't what to cover you, they even said that because I'd changed the colour of my bike, this would increase the insurane premium, even though the original colour was dark blue and I changed it to a "Safer" pure white......you go figure.

"To be honset, or not to be honest...........that is the question!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys
Bennets strung me along right to the last "get quote page" - complete with all the mods declared and accepted then told me "I'm too old for them to offer insurance" What a $%^&*!!!! insult! No one else used that as a excuse not to insure me.
Now trying Bikesure who say they will have to refer me to their supervisor - who probably won't be in till Tuesday so bang goes my chances of riding it legally until after the BH!
Meanwhile hope you lucky young ones have a great 2 wheeled weekend!
If anything changes I'll let you know as this scenario could easily apply to other old geezers like me

At last-spoke to Footman James this morning and after talking more about bikes than insurance to one of their guys - a real biker himself - ended up without a no hassle policy fully comp for £83.Seems I'm not too old - or am I ?
So now the bike is INSURED,MOT'D, TAXED, OFF SORN, BATTERY CHARGED UP, AIR IN THE TYRES, OIL IN THE CRANKCASE, FRESH PETROL IN THE TANK so I'off for its first road legal ride this afternoon.Or I would if I can get the% $^&%÷×#^*:"ing thing started!
