honda st50 - 7occ
I am just about to buy a dax 50. How easy is it to convert to a 70cc engine. Can anyone help me?/

Thanks I'm new to this!

Hello and welcome.

Why not go 90, 110, 125, 140, 160, 190cc, then you can keep up with the traffic ;) ;) ;)

All the best Si

i'd love to. But first I just want to know how simple a conversion is. What needs changing. is it whole engine? Exhaust? where could I get this done?

First things first, do you want to go original or are you not bothered?

Secondly how mechanical are you, and what would you be willing to undertake?

Where in England do you live?

All these question.............all the best Si

It's an easy conversion if that's what you want to do.
Is it a need for speed?

What voltage is your st50? If your not sure check the battery.
You may have to consider a 6v to 12v conversion but that depends on what engine you go for.

Thanks for the info. I'm in Essex. And I have had a few of these before. I'm not very mechanical, I'd like the parts to be honda parts, I can except the speed of the 70, but the 50 is just super slow.

Know where I could get this done in essex?

I too live in Essex but don't like to boast about, Shorrocks is by far the most knowledgeable electrician I know and can wire a mean LED but oops thats a different forum, as for high speed experiences no one can beat him or stationary for that matter. Give him a bell and welcome to the wonderful world of the Mini Bike.

50cc to 72cc (39mm to 47mm bore) is a very reliable and cheap way to upgrade your stock engine.
Get a decent 47mm cylinder + piston & rings for OT50 head (if you have a 6v engine) and a complete 47mm gasket set.

The final result will vary depending on type of cylinder head, carb, set-up and ignition you're running.
Also, you might find yourself wwanting to change the gear ratio.
