st70 footrest mystery

Hi Chaps
Rummaging through the basket of bits that will hopefully soon become a bike , I came across the rear footrests and noticed they were not an identical pair
B*%$$OX I thought, then I looked at my other unmolested, boggo standard st70 and noticed they were non identical too! It begs the question why?
If the right hand one is shaped to clear a low level exhaust or whatever, why not just make a pair of them instead ? rather than having a separate production process for each one? Any thoughts?

I don't have a scooby why though, I did think it was reinforce as it was the one used to mount the bike but that's just a theory.

You may well be right................... Hey, we could could all do swopsies with each other and end with matching pairs on our bikes!
The reinforced one definitely lives on the right side , it also has a radius on it which may correspond with a low level exhaust?
Someone out there will solve it I'm sure.
