ST 70 Lady Dax Rebuild
I have had my Dax for over 30 years. my then brother in law sold it to me after he bought 2 and built one good one I got the remanants Think I paid him about £20
I built it and ran it for a couple of years and then something went wrong with the engine. I can't recall what but I bought a C70 motor. I fitted it but did nothing else. Since then it has lived forlornley at the back of various sheds and garages neglected.
My brother in law hasn't been my Brother in Law for some time but we are still mates and he has pestered me to get the bike back. he has refurbed his and made it into a lady dax but it isn't a genuine one.
Anyhow a couple of years ago in Winter my normal 50 min to 75 min dependant on traffic comute took 14 hours yes 14 hours,(Snow and Ice) As I sat in the car i thought if only I had the Dax I would have been home long ago, So the rebuild started
This is what I started with after being dismantledScreenshot_2014-09-06-13-07-02 (640x360).jpg

Good luck with the build. Looks like my bike did when I got it.

Because the engine was a bit naff and wasn't an ST engine and I wanted to do more thatn 40mph I bought a 150 Daytona and converted to 12v electrics20131220_115328 (640x480).jpg When the bigger engines are fitted its easy just to put the carb to one side and fit a K&N type filter but I wanted to keep the original Air filter so a bit of cutting and welding and I got it to fit using the original Air filter20140831_163307 (640x480).jpg I decided on a twin exhaust and this is where I am at to date20140907_152247 (640x480).jpg

I'm not a fan of how the engine looks, but it looks like a good build!
