Hi all,
Around October 2013, my brother acquired 2 Honda CF70/Chaly motorbikes which were in a poor state of repair. It turned out one had a C50 engine half fitted but a lot of parts were missing from both bikes. Initially the idea was to use the parts from both of them to make up one bike but then my brother decided he wanted them both restoring and by April 2014 a third (donor bike) arrived, but that too is now being restored!
Any way whilst doing the restoration a lot of time and money has been spent but I have since found out that the first 2 bikes were not registered with the DVLA which means I have to complete the restoration before going down the ‘dating’ route so as to get V5 documents for them.
To do this I need a 6V CF70 engine and they appear to be like hens teeth to get hold of. So as I have had some C70 engines laying around (in different states of disassembly) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v679/ ... 1f2b52.jpg I decided to try placing a 6V crank into a the crank casings of a 12V engine. I have a C70 6V magneto with the auto advance linkage and the clutch assembly is the same for the 6V C70 as it is for the 12V C70 engine. The issue I have found is that the stator plates for the C70 6V engine only has 4 wires coming from the unit (of which one is the neutral wire), where as the one for the CF70/Chaly has 5 (of which one is the neutral wire) and the colour coding of the wires is different. However the stator plate from a 6V C50E engine is the same as the CF70/Chaly with the wires being the same colour.
Has anyone done anything similar and did it work? I appreciate that I will have to obtain the correct side casing for a 6V CF70/Chaly (that covers the magneto and drive sprocket) as the ones for the C70 that I have are not correct (with the CDi pick-up and without it) and I have got to source a C50E stator plate too.
The 3 bikes currently look like this and the photo file is now some 350+ pictures

I however need numerous parts to complete the build(s) so the question is , has anyone got any parts for the 6V chaly or know anyone who has?
I have numerous other projects on the go and want to get the Chaly's done and out the way as the back garden has had a marquee in in for the last 5 months and my wife I fear will soon loose the plot and exact some revenge on me as I sleep.
A quick clean up to locate some misplaced parts saw my drive looking like this last week

and the inside of the garage still looked like this

and at the moment the garage now looks like this when I open the door
