Winter Chaly Project
So this is it
I have had this Chaly for about 2 years and it is time to bring it back to life, the engine runs and it all works but as these are quite common now I have decided to give it a new lease of life.
I will be posting pictures as the project moves forward, I look forward to your comments both positive and otherwise. I intend to keep it as mechanically stock as possible but some of the parts will need to be replaced as they u/s. The chrome looks good in the photo but it needs rechroming as it is a bit flakey, CSML sell parts for these minibikes and claim they are original but the rack on mine is different to theirs and also the handle bar tree on mine has 2 fittings one for the ignition switch and one for the light switch where as theirs only has the one for the ignition switch.
Not sure about the colour scheme yet, maybe a baby pink frame with pink carbon accessories and a white shag pile seat !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi
This is the next picture in the story of my Chaly rebuild, the strip down was a learning curve as a Chaly differs in many ways to Dax's on the frame structure i.e. the air filter is part of the structure there are also additional engine mounts.
The cable runs for the throttle and the choke run through the frame and are fixed near the carb body which is fixed directly to the frame and the manifolds are rubber and so it goes on,certainly a learning curve.
This picture was taken just before loading the car and taking the parts to the paint shop,I have given the paintshop free rain on the colour scheme which is a bit worrying as it is the same paintshop that did Shorrocks Tango and dead fly paint scheme but Gary the powder has said it was Shorrocks idea!!!!!!
I will stick with the two tone scheme as it suits the bikes, anyway now the chroming (big bucks) some parts are cheaper to replace than rechrome if they can be obtained.
Will keep the pictures coming.

OK
The paint work on the frame and other parts is done and is back home in the back bedroom pics to follow the bad news is the leg shield and mudguards are still at the paintshop and the chroming is a work in progress which could take sometime, luckily though I can get on with the engine rebuild.
I have also taken delivery of a brand new YX 140 from OORacing to go in my purple custom Dax the biggest issue is finding the time as being a self employed Espresso engineer your time is not your own and bills have to be paid and wages for the butler and french maid need to be paid on time.
Have just ordered front fork rebuild kit from David Silver the price has altered in a week due to currency exchange fortunately less money oh and the bad news the caps have come up as out of stock whatever that means.
Unfortunately the pink colour on the Chaly is not quite as pink as I was expecting but he ho there you go, I will post some pics shortly,
Regards Tufty
