125 ENGINE PERFORMANCE
I'm planning to have a 4spd. 125 electric start engine from OOracing fitted to my ST70 in the next couple of weeks and wondered what the difference in performance is likely to be between a standard Honda CG or CB125S engine. I imagine with smaller 10"wheels on the ST compared with a CG/CB125S it would be pretty quick off the mark but eventually run out of puff at roughly what speed -50?60?
If anyones got an ST fitted with a similar engine it would be nice to have any comments. I know I could have a bigger engine but my budget decided it has to be the 125 - quite adequate for an old geezer like me trying to grow old disgracefully!

After its installed I should have a few spares available for sale I'd bought for the original ST70 engine - nothing big or expensive but parts that might be useful for others so I'll get a list together in the next couple of weeks - Watch the for sale column on this forum.

Finally a message for Tufty and Simon - if you're reading this please give me a call - no reply to PM's left recently - you may be on holiday or working away
Cheers,Brian

Re: 125 ENGINE PERFORMANCE
Hi Brian,

Glad to hear your about to get your bike and engine up and running :D
I'd say you should get about 50 - 60 mph tops , but it depends how you gear it.
You can get such diffent results changing the front and rear sprockets.
It also depends what you've had for breakfast over the last few months ;)

Take a look at this http://honda50.com/speedcalc/speedcalculator.html

Do you want fast accelations from the off and up to 40mph or a bike that cruises nicely?

Cheers,

Blue
