ST70 Model ID

Hello. This is a question to try and identify the model of a recently bought ST70. The log book first registration reads May 1979, and the stamped chassis number is ST706112497. A small VIN plate on the headstock also has this number on it. The bike has had some restoration done to it but needs more. If anyone out there can help me identify this machine, it would be a great help. Cheers for now.

I was under the impression that pre 1974 models did not have a vin plate on the headstock but just had the chassis number stamped into the frame above the chain guard.Sorry but I don't know how the serial dates the frame more knowledgable folk than me can answer that one.

Late '75 or early '76 indeed.
Most likely 12/1975.
