hi all i was just woundering my mate has a honda lady dax, and is currently stripping it to restore,
once we had removed the enging we found a number on like a little counter sunk plate near the footpeg rest.
is this the engin number?
and if so it dosent match the v5 log book he currently has, is there a way you can see if that engin is registered to another bike bfore informing the dvla to change the log book?

hope this makes sence thanks james.

Re: engin numbers.
I don't have much knowledge concerning the DVLA and all that UK stuff,
but originally the engine number matches the frame nuber.
Except for the prefix, which can differ.
(fe ST70-7325678 bike with engine ST50E-7325678)

What you could do, is change the prefix of your engine on the internet, and look if it is (was) a registered bike.

Re: engin numbers.
Well, you can assume that the engine under your bike was originally fitted to a frame with the exact same digits, but a different prefix (letters).

So if you have an engine ST50E-12345678
I'd try to look for frame number
ST70-12345678
or
ST50-12345678
or
....
