I just bought an st70, she runs great with about 8k miles on the odo. Everything is there except for the missing indicators, headlight and badge. This will be my first bike resto and I'm excited already. Stripped her down today, and I already see a list of things I need to buy...

Frame no is st70 136588
engine no is st70e-110424

Abit distance but they are both in the 1969 era so I think it is the original engine, plus there arent many around here. By the way the badge is the metal's and has two pins, anyone knows where I can get a (repo) new pair? Cheers

HI
THAT IS AN EARLY ONE AND HAS THE VERY RARE REMOVABLE FRONT END MAKING IT A WORTHWHILE RESTO PROJECT I WAITED A LONG TIME TO FIND A SET OF FRAME BADGES AND PAID WELL OVER THE ODDS TO GET THEM AND IT MIGHT MEAN BUYING A COMPLETE WRECK WITH BADGES TO GET THEM SHIRE BIKES HAVE SOME PARTS BUT SCOURING EBAY IS PROBABLY YOUR BEST BET (BUYER BEWARE)
GOOD LUCK AND KEEP UP THE RESTORATION
REGARDS TUFTY

I have the same fully enclosed rear suspension as you on my ST, I wonder if this design is oerculiar to the '69-'71 models only? Mine also has the remains of a low slung exhaust.

Low exhaust is typical for the '69 model.
These rear shocks are the common OT 6v version.
Only the CT and Mighty dax have the open spring rear shocks.

Thanks Waynus. Think my exhaust is home made as my ST was being used as a field bike. It has the mountings for a high level exhaust too.

I've just bought a Honda 1969 ST70 too mate :)
Picking it up tomorrow. Looks to be fairly original and with matching frame and engine numbers but with a 110cc head.
My first ST so hopefully a good one!
