Some old photos I found of my ST70 in Peru from 1970's. Stripped down and lightweight.....ended up being a 90cc piston and barrel conversion so went pretty well aside from the high altitude lack of oxygen problems.

Goods skills sir!
As a newby to ST's I am looking for one to play with/chuck in the back of the van myself and have an old 6V C90 engine under the bench - does the barrel just bolt on? I guess I could search for the answer but no harm asking ;) ...

Wow... great retro pictures!!!
Yeah, at that altitude, a bigger carb and high flow air intake would have helped.

Yes very old and a lifetime ago..... Quite the wheelie king back then, could ride along in 3rd at a fair speed. I can't quite remember what we did with the engine top end, it was a 90cc block and piston and I think the head was too but can't be sure. The carb was a slightly bigger bore but had the standard filter bean can type. No aftermarket stuff there in those days so we used to drill a load of holes in the rear portion of it behind the foam filter element which was cleaned every trip due to the super fine volcanic dust and sand, engine killing stuff. The holes let through a lot more airflow and the difference before and after was really noticeable. Got some more pics jumping off sand dunes but can't find them at the moment.
